Recruiting changed in 2026. Did your profile?

Some of the change happens after you click Apply: LinkedIn’s AI hiring agent helps the recruiters who use it review applicants. Here are three updates LinkedIn announced in 2026, newest first, each linked to its LinkedIn Pressroom page.

  • LinkedIn announced the next version of its AI agent for recruiters, Hiring Assistant 2, rolling out from November. It will bring together signals such as whether a candidate is verified, their pre-screening answers and relevant work experience.

  • LinkedIn is testing a way for verified connections you worked or studied with to confirm your experience. More than 115 million members have now verified their identity or workplace, for free.

  • Two-thirds of recruiters (66%) plan to use more AI for pre-screening interviews in 2026, in a LinkedIn survey of 6,554 HR professionals worldwide.

The free Fit Check has a checklist item for two of those signals: identity verified (3 of its 100 points, which you confirm yourself) and experience described with specifics (3 points, mostly read from your profile). It doesn’t check pre-screening answers or AI interviews, which come after you apply. See the checklist.

The problem

Applying through a form puts you in one company’s pile. It doesn’t put you in the search recruiters run on LinkedIn to find people, and that search looks for words: the job titles in your Experience section, the skills you list, and keywords on your profile. A profile that lists duties instead of the words for the job you want is easy to miss.

Check the fit first: one free Fit Check

The free Fit Check scores your profile on a public 100-point checklist, then lists the three things hurting it most and your top 5 fixes, in order. It runs in your browser and never asks you to sign in to LinkedIn. No account, nothing to install.

Every item is public, with its points and where they come from: LinkedIn’s own pages, patterns we have observed, or our opinion. See the whole checklist.

The method

Three steps. See where your profile stands. Get it rewritten in the words recruiters search for. Make the changes yourself.

  1. Check the fit

The free Fit Check scores your profile against a public 100-point checklist and lists your top 5 fixes, in order. Your headline, About, job titles and skills are where recruiter search finds its words.

  2. Try on a new headline and About

The Full Report rewrites your headline and About from your real experience, and lists the skills your target role uses, so the role you want is obvious.

  3. Your tailored profile

You paste each change in yourself, from your own account. The Full Report says exactly how to set Open to Work and your location.

No bots on your LinkedIn, ever. We never auto-apply, never run scripts or extensions on your LinkedIn, and you make every change yourself. LinkedIn bans that kind of automation. Source: LinkedIn Help: Prohibited software and extensions (read Oct 6, 2026)

What you walk out with

  1. Check the fit, free: the free Fit Check gives you a score out of 100, the three things hurting your profile most, and your top 5 fixes, in order.
  2. Try on a new headline and About: the Full Report rewrites both, lists the skills your target role uses that your profile is missing, and gives you the full Fit Formula checklist.
